Arunika Ekawati

Director, Indonesia & Founder, PT Arunika Prana Shanti

Arunika Ekawati — Director, Indonesia, Jade Circle
"A spa should feel like a sanctuary for the guest and a well-run business behind the scenes. Achieving both is where the real artistry lies."

Arunika Ekawati has spent her entire career in hotels, building her path through the world of luxury wellness with discipline, instinct, and a deeply rooted understanding of hospitality. Now, as Director, Indonesia for Jade Circle, she brings that experience to a new side of the industry, helping luxury hotels and spas elevate guest experience, service quality, and commercial performance with the insight of someone who knows the business from the inside out.

Her journey began in hands-on spa roles and grew steadily into senior leadership, a progression that gave her an unusually complete view of what makes a spa truly exceptional. Arunika understands that wellness is never only about treatments or beautiful spaces. It is about rhythm, detail, consistency, and the feeling a guest carries away long after they leave. "Guests may not always remember every step," she says, "but they always remember how a place made them feel."

Over the years, she has held leadership roles with some of hospitality's most respected names, including The Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, St. Regis, Jumeirah, The Datai Langkawi, and The Sukhothai Bangkok. Her international career has taken her across Indonesia, the Maldives, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Thailand, and Qatar, shaping a leadership style that is both globally informed and deeply practical.

Most recently, at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, Arunika served as Director of Spa & Recreation, leading spa, wellness, and recreation operations with a focus on exceptional five-star guest experiences, strong team culture, and sustained revenue growth. Before that, at The Sukhothai Bangkok, she oversaw spa and wellness operations alongside a longevity clinic and retreat concept, bringing together personalisation, innovation, and operational excellence in a highly refined setting.

She is especially valued for a rare combination: intimate spa knowledge paired with sharp business acumen. Arunika knows how to create experiences that feel effortless to the guest while remaining commercially strong behind the scenes. She has led pre-openings, driven memberships and retail, developed teams, secured licensing, strengthened service culture, and built wellness concepts that are both elegant and effective. "A spa can be serene and still be smart," she says with a smile. "In fact, it should be."

That perspective makes her role at Jade Circle a natural next step. Having spent years on the hotel side, Arunika understands exactly what operators need, what guests respond to, and what standards luxury properties expect from their partners. She knows that quality is not an abstract promise but something expressed in the smallest details — from product performance to training, consistency, and the flow of the guest journey. At Jade Circle, she now brings her experience to a wider landscape, supporting multiple spa partners across Indonesia and helping translate operational insight into meaningful value. In many ways, she has changed sides, but never changed her purpose.

Attention to detail is one of the qualities most often associated with Arunika. Very little escapes her notice, and she is known for holding herself and those around her to a high standard, always in service of excellence. Yet that precision is not about perfection for its own sake. It comes from care. In her view, details are how trust is built, how standards are felt, and how hospitality becomes memorable. "There is always a reason something feels right," she says. "Usually, it is because someone cared enough to notice." And yes, quite often, she will notice the towel fold too.

For Arunika, returning to Indonesia marks a particularly meaningful chapter. After years abroad, being back feels like a homecoming — both professionally and personally. It is an opportunity to bring her international experience back to a market she knows intimately and cares for deeply. It also means being closer to her son, Toby, who is her pride and joy. A devoted mother, she treasures the balance and happiness that come from spending more time with him, grounding her work in what matters most.

At the heart of Arunika's story is a belief that luxury hospitality is built not only on standards, but on sincerity: on understanding people, anticipating needs, and creating experiences that feel thoughtful, polished, and genuine all at once. That belief carried her from therapist to spa leader, and now shapes the way she supports Jade Circle and its partners across Indonesia.

As she sees it, the real magic of hospitality is that when everything is done well, it feels wonderfully simple. Of course, making it look simple is usually the hardest part.
